What is Water purification?

Water purification means releasing water from any kind of contamination it contains, such as contaminants or micro organisms. The water purification process has many steps. The steps that need to be followed depend on the kind of impurities that are found in the water. This can differ for different types of water.
Water purification, or drinking water treatment, is the process of removing contaminants from surface water or groundwater to make it safe and palatable for human consumption. A wide variety of our water purification systems may be used, depending on the raw water source, contaminants present, standards to be met, and available finances.

Water purification may be considered for a diversity of other purposes, including to meet the requirements of medical, pharmacology, chemical and industrial applications. It may be carried out by a variety of methods, including treatment with ultraviolet light, filtration, water softening, reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and carbon treatment.

    How does a reverse osmosis water filtration system work?

  • Water is first passed through a pre-filter screen to remove sediments from the water
  • Next water is passed through an even smaller screen to remove very small particles (bacteria, heavy metals, etc)
  • The third step is passing the water through a carbon filter to complete the filtration process
  • As contaminants build up on the filtration screens, the reverse osmosis system uses water to wash the screens - called backwashing

    Water Treatment Plant explained:
    The containerised water treatment plant is suitable for the supply of potable water to isolated communities where access to safe water is an issue. The water treatment plant process has been design to supply drinking water, according to the WHO standards, from various sources of water such as rivers or dams. The process includes clarification, pH correction, sand filtration, activated carbon filtration and disinfection. The clarification, coupled with the pH correction removes the suspended solids, while the sand and activated carbon filters polish the water and remove color and odors. The drinking water is produced continuously. As the water purification plant is containerised, it is totally assembled and tested in our workshop before being transported to site. Little additional work is required on site. Although the water plant is “plug and play” by nature, it requires raw and treated water as well as the effluent discharge connections to be made on site.
